Below are our experienced staff who are happy to help you with your veterinary needs.
Dr Martin Strong, BVSc, MANZCVS (sas)
After graduation in 1993 from Sydney University he began
working with Dr Robert Zammit and had the opportunity to
increase his knowledge and skills in all aspects of small
animal veterinary science with the particular interests in small
animal reproduction.  In 1997 Martin bought the practice
and has enjoyed improving the facilities and services
provided to our clients.

In 2001 Martin completed further study in small animal
surgery and obtained his membership to the Australian
College of Veterinary Science which has enhanced his
knowledge and skills in this field.  Since then his education
has continued and in 2007 he was certified by the University
of Pennsylvania to submit Penn Hip XRays and was
accredited by AQIS in 2008 to perform pre-export
examinations. Further training has led to Martin now
performing cruciate ligament repairs with the TTA method
and he is having great success.

In his leisure time he enjoys riding and training horses,
kayaking and playing with his dog.
Dr Ali Bumak graduated from Sydney
University in 2008 and began her professional
career in Dalby, Queensland.  She worked in a
busy mixed animal practice, gaining a
particular interest in equine dentistry and all
aspects of small animal veterinary medicine
and surgery.

Ali then spent 6 months travelling in Canada
before returning to "God's own country" in the
Hunter Valley;  she has been working with us
since December 2013.  She has furthered her
education in equine dentistry and small animal
surgery since being at Motto Farm and loves
spending her free time playing with her
beautiful dog and riding her horses.
Dr Ross Barter.   After  graduating from The University
of Sydney in 1988, Ross worked in mixed practice for 7
years, before concentrating on small animal practice.  He has
worked in Australia, New Zealand and England, including 5
years at the RSPCA Newcastle and 7 years as an emergency
vet at the Newcastle Animal Referral and Emergency Centre
[NAREC]. Ross has a particular interest in ultrasound and
cardiology  and has  completed many post-graduate courses
in these fields.  On his days off Ross operates Newcastle
Veterinary Ultrasound, performing ultrasound examinations
for referring veterinarians. Ross is married with 2 children, 4
cats, 1 rabbit  and often several foster kittens.

team in 2006 and since then has completed
her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.

her organising the staff and especially the

loves  caring for her patients . She has
been working within this career since
entering the work force.
Ashleigh Bruinsma has
joined our team and brings with
her a wealth of knowledge and
